My Story
Like most artists I have been making art for my entire life. Growing up as an only child in a small town in Illinois gives you plenty of time to read comic books and draw. I never wanted to be anything other than an artist. But I had no idea what avenue I would take to get there.
After the birth of our first son I began taking art classes at aSoutheastern Community College in West Burlington, Iowa. This is where I did my first painting and really started my journey as a professional artist. After completing my associates degree I transferred to Wester Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. I quickly realized that the Art Education Department wasn’t for me. I spent the remainder of my time at WIU studying painting and printmaking.
In 2006 I met my mentor Muriel and quickly decided that tattooing would be my life. I began my apprenticeship at Zao Tattoo while taking my remaining classes at Western. After a 6 month apprenticeship I did my first tattoo, just weeks after our 2nd son was born.
After spending a few years working at a local shop, my wife and I opened our own studio in downtown Burlington, Iowa. That was in 2010. I am grateful to have an opportunity to make a living by listening to music and drawing on people.
Thank you to all of the amazing clients and friends who have allowed me to live this dream.
